Composer Preview: Mine Kawakami

Japanese composer Mine Kawakami, who will give two concerts in Seville and Madrid soon (read news), met Rafa Melgar yesterday, for an exclusive interview for SoundTrackFest.

 

There they talked about her career, the reason why she chose to study piano, the years she lived in Córdoba, the soundtracks she has composed for the Japanese TV, or her disc in tribute to the Camino de Santiago, among other things.

 

Shortly we will offer you a summary of today’s concert in Seville and the full content of the interview, but meantime, here you have some photos and a quote from Mine Kawakami that has caught our attention (who by the way, speaks perfectly Spanish and German, in addition to her native language, Japanese):

 

“Music is very visual to me. Many times I do not write down the notes, I just put the lights of Córdoba, 7 in the morning, day 14th, and I think about that light and the keys ask me where to play. My music is very visual, it is like painting, but it is not present, it is in the memory.”
