The founder and director of MundoBSO, Conrado Xalabarder, specialist in film music and author of the book ‘The Music Script in Film’ will give today, Friday, November 1st, a masterclass entitled ‘The composer as a filmmaker’ in the Department of Musical and Sound Arts at the University of Argentina in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

This conference will explain the relevance of the figure of the composer -and the music- as a tool for cinematographic narration, getting to emotional, conceptual, and intellectual communication with the spectators. It will address the need for the composer to assume the role of filmmaker and know how to propose concrete solutions to specific problems of the film, as well as being part of the construction of the film. Likewise, it will discuss how to talk with the director, especially difficult when he/she is not a musician. Finally, it will be addressed how directors who are not musicians, can make use of music in a rational way and without being guided by emotions.
