Game Music Festival 2020 – Masterclasses & guests

The Polish Game Music Festival will be celebrating its 3rd edition this weekend, on Friday, October 16 & Saturday, October 17, 2020, at the National Forum of Music in Wroclaw (Poland).

In this article, we are bringing you more information about its guests and masterclass program.

 

GUESTS

Due to the travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, all international guests will be attending the festival online: composers Darren Korb, Austin Wintory & Jon Everist, and singer Ashley Lynn-Barrett.

Composers Borislav Slavov and Arek Reikowski will be present at the festival, together with singer Vesesla Delcheva, and conductors Robert Kurdybacha & Marek Wroniszewski.

MASTERCLASSES

The masterclass workshops, conducted by composers who are special guests of the Game Music Festival, are a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of professional game audio industry. They also represent a great chance to improve competencies in sound production, music composition, career planning, and professional development in the art of composing music for video games.

 

All the masterclasses can be followed for free either on-site or online via Zoom:

Friday 16/10/20 – 19:00h – Masterclass with Borislav Slavov – Chamber Hall 2nd floor or Zoom (Online)

  • Title: The Adaptive Symphonic Music of Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Description: The Composer and Music Director Borislav Slavov will talk about the way he has composed the score and designed the music systems, in order to achieve the adaptive musical experience of Baldur’s Gate 3. He will make a live D&D music presentation on stage, where everyone from the public will be able to join and influence the course of the soundtrack in real-time.

 

Saturday 17/10/20 – 15:30h – Masterclass with Arkadiusz Reikowski – Chamber Hall 2nd floor or Zoom (Online)

  • Title: The Medium – connecting the spirit world and the real world through music
  • Description: The creative process behind the minds of Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka. How the two styles connected and how they work inside the world of “The Medium”.

 

Saturday 17/10/20 – 17:00h – Masterclass with Darren Korb – Chamber Hall 2nd floor or Zoom (Online)

  • Title: Scoring the Underworld: The Music of HADES
  • Description: Composer/Audio Director Darren Korb will discuss making and implementing the music for Supergiant’s latest title, HADES. He’ll explore some of the unique challenges of scoring a game designed for replayability, and his approach to solving them, and he’ll take you through his process of how he arrived at the game’s “Mediterranean-Prog Rock-Halloween Music” sound.
