MOSMA 2020 – Detailed concert program

Today, Thursday, September 10th, starts the 5th edition of the Movie Score Málaga (MOSMA) film music festival, which will last until Saturday 12th. An edition adapted to the current circumstances, which will give us 4 varied and very interesting concerts to be held over 3 days, but that couldn’t add to the program the conferences and master classes we had in previous editions.

 

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, and due to travel restrictions, MOSMA will have to do without international guests this year and will focus its program on concerts, all of them with reduced capacity and complying with all the established health and safety protocols.

 

Below you will find the complete and detailed program of concerts:

MOSMA Masters: Tribute to Ennio Morricone in ten movements. A Tribute Experience – Thursday 10/9/20 – 20:30h till 21:45h – Teatro Cervantes.

Last July, and barely a month after being granted the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts together with John Williams, the Italian Maestro, one of the most important European composers and author of the soundtrack for more than five hundred films and television series, passed away. MOSMA 2020 could not fail to pay him this tribute, and will do so in a concert with the Malaga Symphony Orchestra conducted by Joan Martorell in which we will hear some mythical pieces ‘re-imagined’ by the directors and composers Sergio de la Puente, Eneko Vadillo, Joan Martorell, Dani Trujillo, Carles Cases, Isabel Royán, Pablo Cervantes, Luc Suárez, Javier Bayón and the Ferrando brothers.

MOSMA Distant Worlds: The Music of Studio Ghibli – Friday 11/9/20 – 19:00h till 20:00h – Teatro Echegaray.

The composer Óscar Senén has prepared and will conduct the Movie Score Málaga Assemblé Orchestra, to lead us in a journey through the music of the mythical Studio Ghibli, one of the most important animation factories in the world.

MOSMA Screen TV: From Los Serrano to Money Heist. The Musical World of Álex Pina – Friday 11/9/20 – 21:30h till 22:30h – Cine Albéniz.

The Movie Score Málaga Assemblé Orchestra, conducted once again by Óscar Senén, will perform a concert with the soundtracks of some of the most nationally and internationally successful Spanish television series of all times, dedicated to the musical world of the creator and producer Álex Pina, author among others of Money Heist, El embarcadero and Vis a vis, with scores created by Manel Santisteban & Iván Martínez Lacámara.

A concert with the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Arturo Díez Boscovich, starring Spanish cinema and some historical TV series of our small screen, in which the composer Antón García Abril will receive the MOSMA Maestro 2020 Award.

There’re still some tickets available at the Teatro Cervantes’ box office and on the Internet (Uniticket – link), with a price of 15 € for the concerts at the Teatro Cervantes and 10 € for the Teatro Echegaray and Cine Albéniz, following the price reduction policy applied by the Malaga Festival due to the coronavirus crisis.
