Nicola Piovani awarded yesterday night in Madrid

Italian composer Nicola Piovani, winner of the Oscar in 1999 for the soundtrack of the film Life is Beautiful (La vita è bella – 1997), was awarded last night Wednesday, November 23, at the 9th Italian Film Festival in Madrid, that will be held over the next week (from November 23 to December 1).

Thus, at 8:30 pm, the opening ceremony of the festival was held, which included the award to an entire career to Nicola Piovani at the Italian Cultural Institute, followed by a concert only by invitation and that was entitled “Concert Lesson – The dangers of the music of Nicola Piovani” (Leçon Concert – I pericoli della musica di Nicola Piovani).

The 9th Italian Film Festival in Madrid is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid and the Italian Embassy in Madrid, with the sponsorship of ENDESA, MiBACT (Italian Ministry of Goods and Cultural Activities and Tourism) and the support of ILLY Caffè.

The screenings of the films, in original Italian version subtitled in Spanish, can be enjoyed until next December 3rd in the Renoir Princesa Cinemas of Madrid, with free tickets that can be collected every day at the box office until capacity is reached, while the activities will have place at the headquarters of the Italian Institute of Culture.
