World Soundtrack Awards 2017 – Crowdfunding and Composition Contest

Film music festival World Soundtrack Awards, that celebrates its 17th edition on 18th and 19th of October 2017 under the motto Jazz@The Movies, focusing on Jazz music on the occasion of the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of its birth, has launched a crowdfunding campaign that ends next Sunday 20th of August.

 

The objective of this campaign is to raise funds for the recording of a CD compilation with the soundtrack of the main guest of this edition, jazz trumpeter and film music composer Terence Blanchard.

With rewards ranging from € 10 (digital album download) to € 1,500 (tickets and attendance to the festival and to the recording of the CD), the link to participate in the campaign is the following:

On the other hand, indicate that the “Composition Contest for Young International Film Music Composers” annually organized by the festival, is also underway.

Candidates must be under 36 years old and will be asked to compose music for a thrilling scene of the Italian movie ‘Il Conformista’ from 1970, directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and with original music from Georges Delerue.

 

A jury composed out of international film and music professionals will carefully select 3 final compositions, whose composers will be invited to attend the festival to watch their music performed at the 17th World Soundtrack Awards Gala by Brussels Philharmonic conducted by maestro Dirk Brossé. Afterwards, the winner of the contest will be announced, awarded with 2.500€.
