Descripción oficial:

The Musimagem Festival reaches its eleventh edition!! This time in an unprecedented partnership with USP –

In addition to the Brazilian guests and the composers of Musimagem, among many others, the music festival for images, the first in the Americas, begins another edition in partnership with the Brazilian Union of Composers (UBC), Abramus, Assim, designer Maurizio Manzo, the Spanish website SoundTrackFest, producer Robert Townson, and this time with a special partnership with the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP) through its Department of Cinema, Radio and Television (CTR). Thus, this 11th edition of the Festival will be integrated into the celebrations of ECA’s 60th anniversary.

Since its inception, the festival has established its importance for professionals working in the audiovisual and music fields, as well as for audiences passionate about soundtracks for audiovisual works, whether in film, television, series, games, advertising, or journalism. This presence has been increasingly highlighted by the specialized press, both in Brazil and abroad.

From September 16th to 18th, the festival will feature lectures and debates with the participation of composers from various parts of Brazil, as well as concerts by musimágicos and our new partner, the ALMAI Orchestra, conducted by maestro and arranger Alexey Kurkdjian Ogalla.

It is with great enthusiasm that the Musimagem Festival lands in São Paulo, the cultural capital of Brazil, and with a new feature from the last edition, maintained and expanded, namely: the promotional partnership with the Prêmio Profissionais da Música and the Music Box Brazil channel, which, with production by GRV Música, Media & Entretenimento, will be covering the event for later broadcast on national television.

Where to watch the special from the last edition?

May it be a wonderful, educational and exciting festival!!

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM – 1 hour – Lecture: Symphonic Music in Cinema

USP (Auditório A CTR)

The tradition of symphonic music in American cinema, which began in the 1930s with composers like Max Steiner, predominated until the late 1950s and early 1960s.

However, with the arrival of new cultural trends—such as jazz, rock, and electronic music—the 1960s and 70s marked a transition to more modern, minimalist, or experimental soundtracks.

This change was reversed with the arrival of John Williams in Star Wars (1977), who revived the classic symphonic style with enormous success.
