Film Fest Gent is proud to welcome Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir as Guest of Honour at the 26th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards. Thanks to her virtuosity, versatility and originality, Guðnadóttir has carved out a unique place for herself within the contemporary music scene. She is known for her work on films such as Joker, TÁR, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and the HBO series Chernobyl. She has previously been honoured by the World Soundtrack Academy as Television Composer of the Year (2019) and Film Composer of the Year (2020).

Guðnadóttir will be attending the World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert as a Guest of Honour on Saturday 10 October 2026. With her innovative mix of genres and unique experiments, she has demonstrated the importance of screen music and strives to take film music outside of its traditional boundaries. During the ceremony, the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé, will perform a selection of her work as a tribute.

Commenting on her invitation as Guest of Honour, Hildur Guðnadóttir says: “What a joy to be a Guest of Honour at this year’s World Soundtrack Awards. I can’t wait to hear some of my music performed by the Brussels Philharmonic and celebrating this years great film music with the lovely community! I look forward to returning to Ghent in October!”
