“Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague will present the best of video game music in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House in Prague on September 27, 2023.
With its program The Gaming Music Live, the unique Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague is heading to the stage of the most prestigious concert hall in the Czech Republic. The Smetana Hall of the Municipal House will thus be dominated by the melodies of the biggest video game titles of recent years.
A live orchestral performance of popular melodies from the most famous computer games and video games will be performed by the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague and the Bohemian Choir Prague under the direction of chief conductor Martin Šanda. «A live performance of this music will draw visitors into the magical world of computer games. Together we will go through the history of game music from Super Mario and Mortal Kombat, through Final Fantasy and Duke, to the hits Uncharted 4 or The Witcher 3 (The Witcher). That is, «the best of» of recent years. I think that a large symphony orchestra with a choir will offer a truly unique and deeply emotional experience,» invites Martin Šanda, chief conductor of the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague, to the concert with these words.
During the concert, melodies from the immortal games World of Warcraft, God of War and Zelda will also be heard. During the concert, there will also be melodies from the hits Assassin’s Creed, Battlefield 1942, Max Payne, Halo 3, Metal Gear Solid 2 or Dragon Age: Inquisition.
All this and much more can be enjoyed by the audience in the performance of a large symphony orchestra and choir. “Game music is just as unique and appealing to listeners as film music. The proof is for example Crysis 2, the author of the music is the famous film composer Hans Zimmer», says the chief conductor and at the same time the director of the orchestra Martin Šanda, who founded this musical ensemble.
Since its foundation, the orchestra has achieved countless successes, for example several European tours with rock legends Deep Purple, Nazareth, Europe, Alice Cooper, Toto, Survivor, Foreigner, Journey, Bonnie Tyler, Uriah Heep and others. He can also boast of collaboration on projects with the Swedish band Sabaton, the British band Kosheen, 2Cellos, the famous Spanish opera singer José Carreras or the vocal group The Tenors. The list of star names that had anything to do with the Prague orchestra is really extensive. Violinist Vanessa Mae, singer Sarah Brightman and three-time Grammy winner Michael Bublé are also worth mentioning.
The orchestra has also performed a number of classical concerts throughout Europe, but also toured Japan and China. On the Czech scene, BSOP presents, among other things, a number of subscription concerts in the Municipal House in Prague.”
