The Unsound Festival 2019, that is being celebrated 6-13 October 2019 in Krakow (Poland), will host two concerts dedicated to the music composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir for the TV series Chernobyl, for which she was recently awarded an Emmy.
Her work, which combines acoustic instrumentation and field recordings from Chernobyl’s sister power plant Ignalina in Lithuania, will have its live premiere at Unsound Festival 2019 as a multi-channel, site-specific show, performed in the abandoned Telkom-Telos factory, on October 12 & 13, 2019.
Hildur Guðnadóttir will be joined by Sam Slater and field recordist Chris Watson, artists who helped realize her vision. Lighting is created by Theresa Baumgartner, and spatialisation by Francesco Donadello.
Chernobyl is co-commissioned by Unsound, Dark Mofo, Barbican, and Rewire. These concerts have the partnership of the Krakow Film Music Festival.
