“Presented for the first time as a ciné-concert, Azur et Asmar, the animated film by Michel Ocelot (author of the Kirikou film trilogy), will be screened for the whole family at the Cité de la Musique in Paris for four exceptional performances from December 19 to 21, 2023.
Inspired by the Tales of a Thousand and One Nights, Azur et Asmar tackles social issues such as social inequality and the discovery of foreign languages and cultures… through the story of two milk brothers – Azur the blond-haired, blue-eyed boy and Asmar the dark-haired, black-eyed boy, raised by the same woman in a green, flower-filled land. Abruptly separated by life at the end of childhood, they are both driven by the desire to find the Djinn Fairy, and embark on a richly instructive epic that will reunite the two brothers.
Gabriel Yared‘s magnificent music, rearranged by Robin Melchior for this format, will be performed by the Yellow Socks Orchestra conducted by Nicolas Simon, in perfect synchronization with the computer-generated images projected on the big screen.
It’s a unique opportunity to discover this touching tale of adventure for young and old alike.”
