John Williams & Yo-Yo Ma – Conciertos – Febrero 2024

El maestro John Williams y Stéphane Denève compartirán podio para dirigir a la Philadelphia Orchestra, en dos conciertos en febrero de 2024, acompañados por el famoso violonchelista Yo-Yo Ma.

El primer concierto será el jueves 20 de febrero en el Verizon Hall de Filadelfia, y el segundo el jueves 22 de febrero en el Carnegie Hall de Nueva York. El segundo concierto tendrá una cena de gala posterior en la Weill Music Room del Carnegie Hall (entradas a partir de 2.500 dólares).

With an astonishing 25 GRAMMY® Awards (out of a staggering 73 nominations) and five Oscars, John Williams is one of the most prolific and beloved film composers of all time, with unforgettable scores including Jaws; Close Encounters of the Third Kind; the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter films; Schindler’s List, and dozens more. But his talents go far beyond the movies.

In this one-night-only performance, Williams conducts a moving, memory-stirring selection of music from his films, and welcomes his long-time friend and 19-time GRAMMY winner Yo-Yo Ma for a performance of his Cello Concerto.

The Concerto transports the listener, from its opening theme “as effective an introduction to a character as the first five minutes of any Spielberg film” (The Washington Post) to its lyrical, poignant finale. It’s a rare opportunity to hear two towering artists who have shaped much of the musical world of the past half-century, on stage together in a joyful reunion!

Join us for a spectacular celebration of John Williams’s concert and film music. Under Williams’s baton, Yo-Yo Ma joins The Philadelphia Orchestra as soloist in the dazzling Cello Concerto—which Williams composed for Ma in 1994—and the orchestra performs the celebratory Just Down West Street … on the left, composed as a gift for the Tanglewood Music Center’s 75th anniversary. Conductor Stéphane Denève then joins the program to conduct a grand tour through some of Williams’s most iconic film music—including selections from the Indiana Jones and Star Wars series, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and The Book Thief—as well as his quintessential Olympic Fanfare and Theme. Experience a thrilling evening of music by one of the most beloved composers of our lifetime.
