We are delighted to present “How to Train Your Dragon” again at the KKL Luzern in response to popular demand. Experience the magic of this heart-warming 2010 masterpiece in HD on the big screen, while John Powell’s score is performed live by the City Light Symphony Orchestra and its vocal ensemble.

DreamWorks’ “How to Train Your Dragon” is a captivating and original story that combines humor, fiery action and epic adventure. When the young Viking Hiccup breaks with the anti-dragon traditions of his people and befriends the fierce dragon Toothless, they must fight together against all odds and prejudices to save both their worlds.

John Powell’s versatile score, characterized by Scottish musical colour, accompanies the adventures of Hiccup and Toothless with strong musical leitmotifs. Powell masterfully weaves these into thunderous action, flaring romance and light-hearted humor, resulting in a rousing, large-orchestral score.

With “How to Train Your Dragon” – in Concert, this multi-award-winning film shines in new splendor as the 90-piece City Light Symphony Orchestra and its vocal ensemble perform John Powell’s Oscar®-nominated score under the direction of Kevin Griffiths.

A thrilling experience for young and old!

Film in English, with German subtitles.

Indulge in great emotions with the romcom classic “The Holiday” and Hans Zimmer’s light-footed, playful score, played by the City Light Symphony Orchestra.

With “The Holiday”, acclaimed director Nancy Meyers tells the story of two women whose next vacation involves more than just relaxation. Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) have never met and live their very own lives 6,000 miles apart. But one day they meet online on an apartment swap website and spontaneously agree to swap apartments for the upcoming holidays.

Iris moves into Amanda’s Los Angeles home in sunny California, while Amanda makes herself at home in Iris’ cozy abode in snowy rural England. Shortly after arriving at their destination, both women find the last thing they wanted or expected: a new romance with Miles (Jack Black) and Graham (Jude Law) respectively.

Since its cinema debut in 2006, Universal Pictures’ “The Holiday” has established itself as a winter and festive classic. The film score by Hans Zimmer also contributes to this, combining everything from dreamy, light-footed piano and guitar playing to romantically languorous strings and atmospheric jazz and pop sounds to set the sparks flying in the romantic comedy “The Holiday”.

While “The Holiday” shines on the big screen, the 50-piece City Light Symphony Orchestra plays Hans Zimmer’s atmospheric film music and pop song melodies live and to the point.
