On Friday, August 2, the LA Phil orchestra conducted by Gustavo Dudamel will play music from the Golden Age of Hollywood by Korngold, Herrmann, Steiner and Waxman, plus a selection of themes by John Williams, to open the Edinburgh International Festival (2-26 August 2019).

 

The program will include the following pieces:

  • Erich Wolfgang Korngold – March of the Merry Men from The Adventures of Robin Hood
  • John Williams – Shark Cage Fugue/Out to Sea from Jaws
  • Bernard Herrmann – Suite from Vertigo
  • John Williams – Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
  • John Williams – Fawkes the Phoenix from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Max Steiner – Suite from Casablanca
  • John Williams – Olympic Fanfare and Theme
  • Franz Waxman – Sunset Boulevard Suite
  • John Williams – Theme from Jurassic Park
  • John Williams – Adventures on Earth from E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
  • Henry Mancini – Theme from The Pink Panther
  • John Williams – Throne Room and Finale from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope
