Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson was found dead in his apartment in Berlin yesterday Friday, 9th of February 2018, at the age of 48. The cause of his death is unknown at this moment. Berlin authorities are investigating and an autopsy will be performed.
He was known for his work on Denis Villeneuve’s movies Prisoners (2013), Sicario (2015) and Arrival (2016) and he received Oscar, BAFTA and Grammy nominations for his score for The Theory of Everything (2014), winning a Golden Globe for it.
A message on his official Facebook account published today at 6:12 pm reads: “It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of our dear friend Jóhann. We have lost one of the most talented and brilliant people who we had the privilege of knowing and working with. May his music continue to inspire us.
