About the Orchestra: created in 2007 by conductor Alexey Kurkdjian, the Sphaera Rock Orchestra aims to form a nucleus for research and interpretation of contemporary music, independent of a specific genre. As it evolved, the project began to look for possibilities ranging from ancient traditions to contemporary media, such as cinema, TV, comics and all forms of art capable of generating music.

 

About the conductor: Alexey Kurkdjian holds a bachelor’s degree in Music from FAAM – Alcântara Machado Arts College, UniFMU, and has postgraduate studies in Musicology at UNESP and USP. His versatility allows him to work as a multi-instrumentalist, conductor, arranger, orchestrator and composer, having worked with the most significant classical and popular instrumental groups in Brazil, such as the “Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira”, “Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro” in Brasília, “Orquestra Sinfônica de Ribeirão Preto”, “Orquestra Experimental de Repertório”, “Orquestra Jovem Tom Jobim”, “Orquestra Sinfônica de Heliópolis”, “Orquestra Sinfônica Jovem de Taubaté”, among others.

 

About the Producer: Estética Torta is one of the leading book publishers focused on music and pop culture in Brazil. Its catalog includes official titles by names such as the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Roberto Gómez Bolaños, Johnny Cash and Mamonas Assassinas.
