Frontiers of Knowledge Awards 2022 – Philip Glass – BILBAO
Bilbao has hosted for the 4th year in a row the celebration of the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards, which in their fourteenth edition, have granted the Music and Opera award to composer and pianist Philip Glass “for his extraordinary contribution to musical creation and opera, with a major impact in the music history of the 20th and 21st centuries,” in the words of the award committee.
As part of the events of the Frontiers of Knowledge Awards 2022, a private concert was held yesterday, Wednesday, June 15 at 19:30h, at the Euskalduna Palace, attended by 900 guests related to the awards.
The concert was performed by the Euskadiko Orkestra, which has become the main partner orchestra of this event, conducted by Robert Treviño. The concert featured the participation of French violinist Renaud Capuçon, in a program that included ‘Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 1‘, by Philip Glass, present in the hall, and ‘An Alpine Symphony’, the last of Richard Strauss‘ symphonic poems and the piece he considered his most perfect work of orchestration.
