The iconic silent film ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ (1925) will be screened today with score by legendary British jazz musician and film composer Roy Budd. The music will be played by Docklands Sinfonia (a 77-piece orchestra), and will be conducted by Spencer Down, in a unique performance for the first time in front of an audience.
Roy Budd, born in 1947, unexpectedly passed away in 1993 at 46 years old, just five weeks before the original premiere of his music for ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, which never happened due to his passing. 24 years later, London Coliseum proudly stages the premiere of his masterpiece work.
