2nd Edition of the Juan Gil Family Estates International Soundtrack Composition Prize

Today, Monday, 20th of February 2018, the second edition of the contest ‘International Soundtrack Composition prize’ organized by Juan Gil Family Estates has been revealed in Madrid (Spain), which has the largest prize in the world for a contest of this type: € 50.000!!

 

The prize is open to composers of any nationality or place of residence aged between 18 and 35 (inclusive) on 1 January 2018. The aim is to promote talented youngsters and support them in their training and first professional steps. The participation must be individual and no compositions from joint authorship will be accepted.

 

A single piece of work will be submitted per participant as the soundtrack for the short film “Essence”, which can be downloaded from the official website, and which can also be watched here:

 

The works must be submitted between 12:00 noon on 20 February 2018 and 12:00 noon on 9 June 2018 (both Spanish time).

 

The winner will have the opportunity to premiere the short film with his music at the concert of the Film Symphony Orchestra that will take place on November 15th, 2018 at the Víctor Villegas Auditorium in Murcia (Spain), where its music will be recorded live, as Constantino Martínez Orts assured, director of the award organizing committee and jury member.

 

The first edition of the contest took place in 2016 where, with a total of more than 110 participants, the Italian composer Marco Valerio Antonini won for his work entitled ‘Land – A story of belonging’, unanimously chosen by the jury composed by Roque Baños, Bruce Broughton, Lucio Godoy, Constantino Martínez-Orts and Juan Gil Vera.
