At the end of the concert season, the Gewandhaus Orchestra under the direction of Gewandhaus conductor Andris Nelsons bids farewell to the summer break with two “Klassik airleben/Classical airlife” concerts on the open-air stage in Leipzig’s Rosental. Hosted by Malte Arkona, the Gewandhaus Orchestra invites you to a “journey through the history of film music” and thanks its audience for their loyalty with a potpourri of the great musical highlights of film history since the end of silent movies.

 

A total of 15 masterpieces from almost all decades of film history by composer legends such as Max Steiner, Ennio Morricone, John Williams and Hans Zimmer will be played in Leipzig’s most beautiful open-air concert hall, the Rosentalwiese, immersing the audience in images from films such as “Gone with the Wind”, “Cinema Paradiso”, “Jurassic Park” and “Inception”.

 

Due to a UEFA EURO 2024 soccer match in the nearby stadium, the Rosental concerts will take place exceptionally this year on Saturday, June 22 at 8.30 pm and Sunday, June 23 at 6 pm.
