The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich conducted by Frank Strobel, will perform on July 1 & 2 at the Tonhalle Maag Zürich, the music that Carl Davis composed for the movie “Ben-Hur” (1925, dir Fred Niblo) while the film is projected on a big screen.
The first movie version of Lew Wallace’s famous novel “Ben-Hur” from 1925 is often considered the first oversized spectacular film in movie history showing the first colored sequences and thousands of extras – a true super-film with gigantic action scenes and breathtaking mass choreographies, that produced costs of then-unbelievable five million dollars.
