The two concerts that Alexandre Desplat was going to offer in Hong Kong to start 2019, on the 4th and 5th of January, have been canceled due to illness of the composer, which is not serious, but that will not allow him to conduct the orchestra.


The concerts, entitled ‘The Oscar Maestro: Alexandre Desplat’, were going to be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Concert Hall and were going to be performed by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Alexandre Desplat, with a program dedicated to his film music (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, The King’s Speech, Lust, Caution…).


According to the official announcement of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra:

“Concert Cancellation

 Due to a short-term medical condition, Alexandre Desplat has unfortunately had to withdraw from “The Oscar Maestro: Alexandre Desplat” concerts on 4 & 5 January 2019. Hence, the concerts will be cancelled.

Your ticket(s) will be refunded. Please keep your ticket(s) intact. For refund details, please click here. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. The HK Phil wishes Maestro Desplat a speedy recovery.
