2025-05-08 – 19:30 h

On Saturday, May 10, within the framework of DocsValencia 2025, a very special master class will be held at the CCCC. In it, composer Josué Vergara will guide the audience through the creative relationship between sound and image together with filmmakers Ignacio Estrela and Agustín Rubio, with live musical performance by Jorge Lario and Josue Vergara himself.

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

Music and cinema have gone hand in hand since the birth of the seventh art. Before hearing the first dialogues in the film, the presence of music has been a guiding and narrative thread of the action and the story. Thus, the multi-award-winning Valencian composer Josué Vergara will talk with filmmakers Ignacio and Agustín Rubio about how the relationship between the film script and the soundtrack is built, and how the relationship between the people who direct and those who compose is created. Legendary couples such as Steven Spielberg and John Williams, Alfred Hitchcock and Bernard Herrmann or Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone are some examples of this indispensable pairing.

The master class will also feature “practical” live music by Jorge Lario’s guitars and Josué’s piano.

Moderator: Pau Montagud (general director of DocsValència).

Participants: Josué Vergara, Agustín Rubio, Ignacio Estrela, Jorge Lario.
