On Saturday, February 26, composer Eduardo de la Iglesia, in collaboration with Borja Vaz, journalist and videogame critic at El Cultural, will offer a masterclass in Barcelona, Spain entitled ‘The Binaural Dimension: Music and Sound in Videogames’.

 

In this masterclass, there will be an initial tour on the evolution of sound and music in the creation of video games. Aspects such as the importance of audio in the video game development process and what narrative or aesthetic specifications should be taken into account, to transfer to the department of music composition and sound design will be addressed. Also, in which big blocks can be divided the sound construction and how to carry them out in parallel to the other needs of the project.

 

Eduardo de la Iglesia is a composer and sound designer from Madrid, who since he began his career in the production department of Commandos 2: Men of Courage, has worked as a composer and audio designer in video games such as Call of the Sea (Out of the Blue Games), Gylt (Tequila Works), Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom (Stage Clear Studios), Red Matter (Vertical Robot), and Respawnables (Digital Legends Entertainment), among others. He has been recognized for his work in the Billboard World Contest, the USA Songwriting Competition, and the Akademia Music Awards.
