Today Saturday 23 and tomorrow Sunday, April 24, RetroPixel Malaga 2022, the 5th Exhibition of retrocomputing and video games, will be held in the Hall of the Faculty of Law of the University of Malaga (Teatinos Campus) with free admission.
Among the activities of the event, on a musical level it is worth mentioning the ‘Workshop of musical composition and creation of sounds in 8 bits with Narcisound’ to be held on Sunday, April 24 at 11:30h, where it will be shown how sounds are created in 8 bits, from its most basic origin modulating the ADSR, to its different waveforms, pulse tables, and sound equalization filters. After contemplating how to create a musical composition for an 8-bit game, the workshop will be followed by a retro ‘chiptune concert’ by Narcisound.
RetroPixel is a family-oriented, cultural, solidarity, and completely free activity organized by the Asociación Lúdico Técnica de Aficionados a la Informática Retro (ALTAIR), best known for the podcast Retro Entre Amigos. The event is sponsored by the Vice-rectorate of Culture of the University of Malaga, the Digital Content Pole, the ETSI of Telecommunications, the ETSI in Computer Science, and Versus Gamers, in addition to the help of the Faculty of Law that lends its hall for the event.
The aim of RetroPixel is to show the history of computing, the origins of the industry of microcomputers, personal computers and game consoles, as well as the evolution of video games in the last 30 years.
