UPDATE (6/2/2022): Video of the event added

SESAC Scores: The Beck Diversity Project has organized a competition where composers have to submit their music and impress a panel of industry experts in 22 seconds. If they aren’t impressed within that time, they will move on to the next submission, just as they would in a real audition process.

Panelists are composer agent Richard Kraft, composer Christophe Beck, music supervisor Julia Michels, and director Rob Minkoff.

A very interesting and different competition. More details below:

“Can your music impress our panel of industry experts in 22 seconds? Submit your track and find out! Join us on 2/2/22 at 2:22 PM EASTERN (11:22 AM PACIFIC).

COMPOSER CHALLENGE #1 (Preexisting Track)

When submitting tracks for scoring demos, it’s imperative to make a quick and favorable impression. Submit your favorite instrumental score track for this event. If selected, our panel of brutally honest decision makers will offer feedback and see if you have what it takes for them to listen further… or not. Panelists are composer agent Richard Kraft, composer Christophe Beck (Frozen, WandaVision), music supervisor Julia Michels (A Star Is Born, Pitch Perfect), and director Rob Minkoff (The Lion King, Stuart Little).

BUT WAIT… THERE’S MORE!

COMPOSER CHALLENGE #2 (Custom Demo)

Can your score impress an award-winning filmmaker in 22 seconds? Download her scene, follow her spotting notes, and get critiqued by the filmmaker herself, award-winner Tracie Laymon.

We highly encourage composers from under-represented communities to apply. Lookie-loo’s are also welcome to listen and learn.

You can apply for either or both parts of the event. You do not need to be a member of SESAC to participate.

ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY JANUARY 31, 2022 at 9:00 PM PACIFIC TIME”
