The RTÉ Concert Orchestra pays tribute to the music of Ennio Morricone (1928 – 2020). Composer, orchestrator, conductor, trumpeter, and pianist Morricone wrote more than 400 scores for film and television, and more than 100 classical works.

Winner of two Academy Awards, three Grammy Awards, three Golden Globes and more accolades, Ennio Morricone wrote music in a wide range of styles for a variety of screen media, now to be brought to life in this full orchestral performance of some of his best work, including music from Days of Heaven (1978) and The Mission (1989).

From The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (1966) to The Hateful Eight (2015), experience the wingspan of Morricone’s career and take flight through a journey of cinematic brilliance.

Conducted by Anthony Gabriele, two tracks from The Mission (1989) will be performed, as well as themes from Cinema Paradiso (1988). Gabriele is noted as one of the finest ‘Film with Orchestra’ conductors, and has achieved acclaim with World Premieres of SupermanSpectreMoby Dick and Les Choristes.

Singing across select tracks are the award-winning mixed-voice choir, Mornington Singers, led by chorus master Orla Flanagan, and soprano Muirgen O’Mahony.
