Organized by the Academy, a special event will be held tonight at the Samuel Goldwin theatre of Beverly Hills (California, USA) called ‘The Sherman Brothers – A Hollywood Songbook’ with legendary songwriter Richard Sherman in attendance.

The evening will celebrate Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman’s legacy with clips from their films and musical performances by Dick Van Dyke, Hayley Mills, Richard Allen, Tommy Emmanuel, Jordan Fisher and Anthony Gonzalez among many others.

The evening will be hosted by John Stamos and featured speakers will include composer John Debney, Oscar-winning director Pete Docter, actress Karen Dotrice, Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino, and film critic Leonard Maltin among many other celebrities.

The Sherman Brothers composed together for more than five decades and are responsible for more motion picture song scores than any other songwriting team in film history. They earned nine Oscar nominations during their long career and got Academy Awards for Song ‘Chim Chim Cher-ee’ and Original Score for Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins in 1964.
