Today Saturday, December 9th, 2017, the Gulbenkian Orchestra conducted by Anthony Gabriele will perform live to picture the music in a screening of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ (dir. Victor Fleming, 1939) in Lisbon (Portugal).
The music, composed by Herbert Stothart, will shine in this irresistible fantasy that has become a cinema classic, with the enthralling Judy Garland as the protagonist. The song ‘Over the Rainbow’, composed by Harold Arlen for the film, was voted Song of the Century by the Record Industry Association and declared the most celebrated ever by the American Film Institute.
