Composer John Barry, born in York, UK on November 11, 1933, will receive a special tribute in his hometown by the York Guildhall Orchestra on October 6, 2024, with the concert ‘A John Barry Celebration

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

We have been considering a concert of film music for a while now, but the opportunity to be able to get the music for film scores that reflects the output one of York’s more famous and talented individuals was too good to miss. For our first concert in this our 44th season, we are delighted to present a flavor of John Barry’s music over the many years he was involved in the film industry – some will be very familiar and some perhaps not so, but nonetheless worthy of a hearing.

The orchestra is joined by local soprano Jo Pears and local chamber choir the Ebor Singers – and the evening will be hosted by BBC Radio York’s very own Elly Fiorentini.
