The Professional Conservatory of Music ‘Guitarrista José Tomás’ of Alicante, pays tribute tomorrow, Wednesday, May 29, to the composer Luis Ivars with a concert, in which students of the Symphony Orchestra and the Big Band of the center merge for the first time.
Around sixty students from both groups, conducted by Francesc Navasquillo, Inés Vila, and Pablo Olivas, will perform a program that includes four suites by Ivars: Tabarka, Expedición Balmis, La Dama Boba, and Captain Thunder.
The program will also include two pieces from Hans Zimmer‘s film Inception and Ennio Morricone‘s Once Upon a Time in the West, as well as the first movement of Vivaldi’s Concerto for 4 violins in B minor and Carl Stamiz‘s Concerto for viola and orchestra in D major.
The concert will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 19h in the Assembly Hall of the Monte Tossal Center (Catedrático Más y Porcel 2, Alicante, Spain) and admission is free, limited to capacity.
It is an emotional circumstance that Luis Ivars studied at this conservatory, where he laid the foundations to realize his musical dreams and now sees with special enthusiasm that Film Music occupies this concert. Even more so when the development of Higher Public Artistic Education (among which will be Music for Audiovisual and Video Games) has just been approved by decree-law.
As president of the Audiovisual Alliance, together with María Salgado, this has been one of the main initiatives they have developed in their relationship with those responsible for “Education”.
