Arena Festival: Film & Music 2020 – Pre-festival concerts with guest conductor Diego Navarro
This weekend, December 6-8, 2019, five film music concerts will be celebrated in Olsztyn (Poland) as pre-festival concerts for the 4th edition of the ‘Arena Festival: Film & Music’ that will be held in 2020 in Poland.
CONCERT – Santa Nicholas’ Day with Film Music (3 shows)
It is known that Disney songs and musicals are well-known all around the world, and this concert, dedicated for both children and adults, will celebrate that music on Santa Nicholas’ Day.
The concerts, held at the Sala Koncertowa Filharmonii, will be performed by the Orkiestra Symfoniczna Filharmonii Warmińsko-Mazurskiej conducted by Piotr Sułkowski, with Magda Miśka Jackowska hosting them.
The program will be the following:
- Henri Mancini – Tribute to Henry Mancini (arr. C. Custer)
- Alan Menken – “Under the sea” (Little Mermaid) (arr. C. Custer)
- Alan Menken – Themes from Pocahontas (arr. J. Moss)
- Robert Lopez & Kristen Anderson-Lopez – Film music from Frozen (arr. B. Krogstead)
- Alan Silvestri – Suite from “The Polar Express” (arr. J. Brubaker)
- John Powell – How to train your dragon (arr. S. O’Longhlin)
- ABBA – Mamma Mia! (arr. R. Phillippe)
- Andrew Lloyd Webber – Music from Evita (arr. C. Custer)
- Various – Grease! (arr. C. Custer)

CONCERT – John Williams’ Film Music with Diego Navarro (2 shows)
While we wait for the latest ‘Star Wars’ film, these concerts will be the best prologue for it, having also some epic themes composed by John Williams for Steven Spielberg’s movies such as: Jurassic Park, E.T., Indiana Jones, Jaws, and more.
The concerts, held at the Sala Koncertowa Filharmonii, will be performed by the Orkiestra Symfoniczna Filharmonii Warmińsko-Mazurskiej led by special guest conductor Spanish Diego Navarro, with Magda Miśka Jackowska hosting them.
