10:15 AM – 12:00 PM – On the Trail of Sound (Marcelo Janot) – DAVID TYGEL, PLINIO PROFETA and ANDRÉ ABUJAMRA – Cine Passeio
On the Trail of Sound (Canal Curta / Urca Filmes)
DAVID TYGEL / PLINIO PROFETA / ANDRÉ ABUJAMRRA
The soundtrack is so important to the narrative of a film that, even in the silent era, it was essential to have a live piano or orchestra in the movie theater. With the advent of sound, the use of music has been gaining ground, and more and more the cinematic experience also involves “listening” to the movie, be it action, comedy, drama or any other genre. What viewers often don’t realize is that, without the music, the scenes take on a totally different meaning. The aim of the series “Na Trilha do Som” is to document the trajectory of exponents of various generations of Brazilian soundtracks, allowing them to comment on their own work. Each episode will focus on a composer and the testimonies will be illustrated by images of their work, but we also want to show them, when possible, putting their hands to work and offering them a challenge: to translate themselves through some composition. We will explore the sensory possibilities that the theme offers so that the viewer realizes how important music is within the narrative of a film.
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Course: Composing with free software / Workshop on free software for music production – Cine Passeio
With Alexey Kurkdjian Ogalla (SP) & Zeh Netto (RJ)
Is it possible to compose a soundtrack using free software? Learn how to plan, organize files and use free software to compose a soundtrack.
Gone are the days when you couldn’t record on your computer without spending a lot or resorting to piracy.nToday there are audio workstations that are free or cost very little! Many free audio processors, virtual instrument libraries, synthesizers, programs for editing scores and effects. Everything you need to make a decent recording on your computer or even your cell phone! And with the fall in the price of audio interfaces (essential equipment for getting sound into and out of your computer or cell phone), quality headphones and microphones, it has become much easier for those starting out in the music production and recording business to begin offering services to the market. It’s worth remembering that good music is made with good creations. With basic equipment and resources, fantastic works can be made.
4:00 PM – 6:30 PM – Lecture: Music in Brazilian Cinema – Cine Passeio
