John Williams returns to Vienna next month! This has just been announced on the website of the Wiener Philharmoniker, confirming that John Williams will return to conduct the prestigious orchestra on March 12 and 13, 2022 at the Musikverein Wien in Vienna, together with his beloved Anne-Sophie Mutter, to celebrate his 90th birthday.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, February 8 @9am, for members of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna, coinciding with John Williams’ 90th birthday, and on Thursday, February 10 @9am, for the general public. Links (prices to be determined 8-240€):

The chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic, Daniel Froschauer, and business manager Michael Bladerer are pleased about the renewed artistic partnership with John Williams: “In addition to many legendary film music compositions, the program will feature John Williams’ Violin Concerto #2, composed in 2021 especially for Anne-Sophie Mutter. In this manner, we celebrate with John Williams and Anne-Sophie Mutter the composer’s 90th birthday.”
The director of the Society of Friends of Music, Dr. Stephan Pauly, shares the anticipation of the orchestra: “Over several decades, the music of John Williams has inspired millions of people around the world. To have him here to conduct his own compositions live with the Vienna Philharmonic in the Golden Hall is a great honor and the source of much joy.”
