Le Noveau Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier 2023 – Solrey

The first concert, entitled ‘Divine Féminin’ will be celebrated at the venue Le Corum – Salle Pasteur, being a musical drama featuring the most beautiful fatal heroines, from Médée to Camille Claudel.

 

Admired, coveted, divinized, many of the heroines of our familiar mythologies ended up sacrificed on the altar of passion or power. Solrey pays tribute to them in this musical show, for which she designed the plot and images, and in which we encounter both Marilyn Monroe in her twilight years and Kim Novak and her double in Vertigo.

 

The Traffic Quintet, an ensemble founded by Solrey, plays music from many different horizons, from Pascal Dusapin’s Medea material to Philip Glass’s Hours and the most poisonous film scores (Jerry Goldsmith’s Basic Instinct, Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho, Alexandre Desplat’s Birth…). Yes, the eye listens, the ear sees, and Solrey, alchemist of reminiscences and silences, renews our idea of the eternal feminine.

The second concert, entitled ‘L’œil écoute et l’oreille voit – Portrait de Solrey’ will also be celebrated at the venue Le Corum – Salle Pasteur, with free admission subject to availability (reservation required).

 

Convinced that “L’œil écoute et l’oreille voit – the eye listens and the ear sees”, Solrey defends a new form of scenic writing in which the musical presence – considering music as a decisive character in the plot – occupies a place hitherto little experienced.

 

The program will include screening of documentary excerpts:

• Alain Planès, l’infini turbulent, À la recherche du son retrouvé, Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas by Alain Planès, and Video Clips by Piotr Anderszewski.
• Solrey, violinist, video artist and artistic director.
