Official description:

“Marking the centenary of his birth, a blockbuster celebration of one of Hollywood’s greatest composers, Elmer Bernstein, introduced and conducted by his son, Peter Bernstein, hosted by film music specialist Tim Burden, and with music from some of his most iconic scores, including two world premieres.

Elmer Bernstein confessed ‘a love affair with Ireland’, recording many of his signature soundtracks in Dublin’s Windmill Lane Studios – the unforgettable My Left Foot and Martin Scorsese’s lavish The Age of Innocence among them – and often escaping Hollywood to holiday in County Kerry.

His arrangement of Ireland’s National Anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann, will be heard for the first time in public alongside a first performance of one his rare excursions into science-fiction, the dramatic, dynamic Slipstream.

An admired film composer, orchestrator and conductor, Peter Bernstein co-composed many scores with his father, including the comedy spooks hit Ghostbusters, which features in the world premiere of The Comedy Suite, alongside the infectious anarchy of cult classic The Blues Brothers and gloriously tongue-in-cheek sky-high drama of Airplane!.

And a rare treat: the charming and delightfully playful Toccata for Toy Trains, scored for an award-winning animated short.

An unmissable evening of movie magic includes memorable, genre-defining scores from Bernstein’s ruggedly virile Western masterpieces, The Magnificent Seven and True Grit, the luxurious Biblical epic, The Ten Commandments, the jazz-accented The Grifters, Sweet Smell of Success and the evocative, American folk tune-laced romance of another masterpiece, To Kill a Mockingbird.”
