St Louis Symphony Orchestra tour in Spain – 2017

The St Louis Symphony Orchestra, which was founded in 1880 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious orchestras in the United States, will begin a tour in Spain in February 2017, from February 8th to 11th specifically, passing through the cities of Valencia, Madrid and Oviedo.

It is the first time that the St Louis Symphony Orchestra tours Spain since 1998, and will feature David Robertson as conductor (who is the current titular conductor of the orchestra) and Gil Shaham to the violin

The repertoire planned for these concerts, which includes film music is:

  • John Adams – The Chairman Dances: Foxtrot for orchestra (1985)
  • Erich Wolfgang Korngold – Violin Concerto in D major, op. 35, the concerto has themes from the scores for the movies Another Dawn (1937), Anthony Adverse (1936) & The Prince and the Pauper (1937)
  • Antonin Dvorak – Symphony nº 9 in E minor, op. 95 “From the New World”
