Krakow Film Music Festival 2023 – FMF Festival Village

La Galería Kazimierz de Cracovia acogerá del 26 al 28 de mayo el FMF Festival Village con un programa que incluye, cine al aire libre, música callejera, discoteca silenciosa y fascinantes conversaciones con Patrick Doyle y Simon Franglen.

El programa incluye proyecciones en pantalla gigante y conciertos de bandas que cautivan a los oyentes con instrumentos de viento y percusión: Dirty Horns, Brass Riders y Marimbazzi Duo. También merece la pena visitar la ciudad del festival para conocer a compositores de fama mundial: Simon Franglen (autor de la música de Avatar: El camino del agua) y Patrick Doyle, Premio Kilar 2023.

 

También habrá talleres durante todo el día y atracciones para los niños. El último evento será una discoteca silenciosa, prevista para el domingo 28 de mayo. Dos DJ en directo remezclarán conocidos motivos cinematográficos y música electrónica, house y pop. Debido al número limitado de auriculares, será necesario descargar un pase gratuito.

    • Dirty Horns is an innovative music project founded in 2021 on the initiative of the saxophonist Sławomir Butrym as a continuation and evolution of the street band “Buddy Paroovo”, operating in Kraków between 2016 and 2017.The ensemble includes acclaimed, multi-award-winning jazz musicians – students at and graduates from music schools such as the Academies of Music in Kraków and Katowice.

    • The Brass Quartet was founded in 2019 by the trombonists Tomasz Stolarczyk, Andrzej Tkaczyk and Tomasz Gajewski and tubist Jarosław Jastrzębski as a result of their interest in chamber music and a drive to improve their ensemble playing.All members of the quartet are artists at the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Kraków.
  • 15.00 | Junk Stories, musical spectacle without words, Domowy Teatr Lalek
    • You’ve all heard the story of toys coming to life as soon as you fall asleep…But do you know what happens to rubbish when you throw it away? Junk Stories tell tales of discarded and forgotten objects, some of which end up in the landfill while others escape in search of adventure.
    • Junk Stories is an accessible, interactive puppet spectacle promoting environmentally-friendly attitudes and based on interacting with the audience in real time. The puppets which appear in the show are made using 95% of waste materials and discarded items.
    • Recommended age: 3+, with no upper limit – there’s plenty of entertainment for adults, too!

    • How do you paint sounds? What does the Film Music Festival in Kraków sound like? If you’re a fan of catching sounds from your surroundings, or finding silence in noise, this is the perfect event for you. At the festival village, kids come together to create an artwork recording festival sounds.
  • 15.30 | Avatar: The Way of Water – the ins-and-outs of writing the soundtrack

    • Two animators perform space-themed brocade tattoos: stars, planets and rockets.

    • Supported by the animators, children make space-themed pendants from birch plywood.
  • 16.30 | Cosmic quiz. How well do you know cinematic and musical galaxies?
    • You’ve seen Gravity at least ten times, you’ve got the rings from Arrival tattooed on your arm, you have the theme from Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey set as your ringtone, and Star Wars t-shirts are your everyday attire, right? If you’re a fan of cinema and space, this quiz is just for you! Get a team together and come along to test your knowledge. Join us with the fun!
  • 17.00 | Space and the Environment: upcycling workshops, Foundation for Ecological Education
    • Upcycling is the art of making creations from discarded materials to bring them back to life and give them new uses and meanings. The main aim of the workshops is to introduce the participants to methods of upcycling of waste materials and the processes leading to the creation of new, useful products. Hole-riddled socks, empty cartons and other packaging can take on a new life as something fresh and unexpected. The vast variety and originality of waste materials serves as inspiration and impulse for action. The upcycling workshops teach participants about abstract thinking, stimulate their imaginations and help them develop their manual skills while bringing benefits to the environment. Participants will discover how to reduce the amount of waste and how to reuse as much of it as possible. The workshops, themed around space, are aimed at kids and adults about to start their adventure with upcycling. Workshop leaders will also present the latest discoveries in environmental sciences.
  • 18.00 | Music of the Drums. Concert by Krystian Truchalski
    • Integrative drum concert by Krystian Truchalski –musician, storyteller, cultural animator, teacher and sensory integration therapist. He intertwines sounds to create stories. The interactions between Truchalski and his audience include words, gestures, gazes, sounds and movements, all of which come together to create images. Participants are the key elements of the stories they tell.
    • Truchalski graduated from the Pedagogical University of Kraków and he has worked with numerous cultural and educational institutions and companies from many fields. He specializes in music, therapeutic and storytelling workshops.

  • 1pm | The End of the World and Beyond! Family quiz about fairytale friendships, Justyna Starek
    • Woody and Buzz Lightyear, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, Mickey Mouse and Goofy – cinema is a cornucopia of friendships! Marking the 16th Film Music Festival in Kraków, we present a special family quiz celebrating cinematic versions of this powerful feeling. Multigenerational teams comprising kids, parents, grandparents and family friends compete to win points in film-themed questions.
  • 2pm | Recital: Marimbazzi Duo
    • Marimbazzi, AKA Jakub Kołodziejczyk and Paweł Dyyak, is a percussion duo founded in 2015 presenting sounds of two marimbas and a vibraphone – instruments which are equally impressive in their visual and auditory terms. The repertoire comprises the artists’ own compositions inspired by Jewish, folk, classical and improvised music and important elements of the percussion repertoire.

  • 5pm | Drum Syndrome concert
    • The group originates from Stowarzyszenie Tęcza – an association for people with Down Syndrome and their families. They are joined by the charismatic artist Katarzyna Zadora, taking us on a journey to explore African music. The artists play traditional djembe drums from West Africa, including countries such as Mali, Guinea, Niger, Ghana and Burkina Faso. Playing the drums releases plenty of powerful, joyful emotions, while drumming together brings people together and helps improve confidence. Playing the drums is a wordless dialogue – a creative expression of sound.
  • 9pm | Silent Disco | DJ FOMA | DJ Albin
    • The two DJs provide live remixes of popular film motifs and electronic, house and pop music. Numbers of headphones are limited, so make sure you book your free ticket – more information on kbfbilety.krakow.pl.
