The London Action Festival 2022 – 1ª edición

The London Action Festival, el primer festival de cine y televisión dedicado a todo lo relacionado con la acción, celebrará su evento inaugural del 28 al 31 de julio de 2022, con sede en el prestigioso Picturehouse Central, en pleno West End londinense.

Para esta primera edición, el festival contará con la participación de John McTiernan (director de cine), Colin Trevorrow (director de cine), Simon West (director de cine), Corin Hardy (director de cine), Robert Davi (actor), Vic Armstrong (doble de acción), David Arnold (compositor), Patrick Savage (compositor) y Steven Price (compositor), entre otros muchos invitados.

 

El mundo del cine y la televisión cuenta con cientos de festivales ya establecidos, pero la acción rara vez recibe la atención que el género realmente merece. The London Action Festival es una celebración largamente esperada de las habilidades, la creatividad, el talento y la valentía necesarios para crear el contenido más emocionante del mundo, tanto en el cine como en la televisión.

 

Los eventos del festival incluirán proyecciones, encuentros, música, conferencias y premios, y se celebrarán en lugares del centro de Londres: Royal Geographical Society, Picturehouse Central y Cineworld Leicester Square IMAX.

28/7/2022 – Thursday – WORLD’S BEST “DIE HARD” SCREENING EVER… (PROBABLY!)

  • SPECIAL EVENT #1: LAUNCH EVENT
  • Time: 7:30 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Place: Royal Geographical Society
  • Description: The London Action Festival presents a very special screening of what is widely considered the greatest Action movie of all time – “DIE HARD” with an exclusive Q&A with legendary director John McTiernan. Not only that, but special guest Robert Davi (everyone’s favourite tough guy and former Special Agent ‘Big’ Johnson in the film) will not only be attending but singing too!

 

29/7/2022 – Friday – LIVE CELEBRATION OF ALL THINGS ACTION

  • SPECIAL EVENT #2: OFFICIAL OPENING NIGHT EVENT
  • Time: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
  • Venue: Royal Geographical Society
  • Short Description: On July 29th, our Friday Night Showdown takes place combining very special panel events, comedy, music and guests of honour and the first “Moving Target” Awards. Watch out for announcements shortly.
  • Long description:
    • On July 29th, our Friday Night Showdown takes place combining a very special Directors panel event, comedy, music (including James Bond composer David Arnold), Guests of Honour and much more PLUS the first “Moving Target” Awards. Director John McTiernan and renowned stuntman, Vic Armstrong, will receive, in person, a Moving Target Award for their ‘Outstanding Contributions to Action in Film and TV’.
    • In ‘Anatomy of a Set Piece’, a panel of top tier directors get to choose their very own favourite Action Set Piece of all time and deliver a live masterclass on what makes their selection so special and how it shaped their approach to film-making. Corin Hardy(Sky Original’s Gangs of London) and John McTiernan (Die Hard and Die Hard with a VengeanceThe Hunt For Red October and The Thomas Crown Affair) are announced so far.
    • Grammy and Emmy award winning composer David Arnold (Independence Day, Casino Royale, Sherlock, Good Omens, Stargate), will join in for a live musical performance and will face off against members of the audience in a live quiz game where each contestant has to guess a soundtrack from the first few bars of its main theme. Violinist and film composer Patrick Savage will  lead ‘The McBain Quartet’ and deliver a lively set of well-known action themes.

 

30/7/2022 – Saturday – PANEL EVENT: THE WORLD IN ACTION — CELEBRATING ASIAN ACTION CINEMA

  • Time: 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Venue: Picturehouse Central
  • Description: “The World in Action” looks at Asian Cinema with Hong Kong as its traditional epicentre and the huge influence it has had on global Action Cinema. With Special Guest Speakers including Joey Ansah (actor, director and martial artist); Mike Fury (journalist and author) and Jude Poyer (2nd unit director, action designer, and stunt coordinator).

 

30/7/2022 – Saturday – PANEL EVENT: WHAT’S THE SCORE?

  • Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Venue: Picturehouse Central
  • Description: “What’s The Score?” explores just how significant the work of the Composer is in bringing action to life and the techniques of scoring for Film & TV. This unique workshop is moderated by Matthew Sweet, journalist broadcaster and host of Sound of Cinema and features Steven Price — an Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning composer (“Gravity”, “Last Night In Soho”, “Baby Driver”) and music editor Bradley Farmer.

 

31/7/2022 – Sunday – PREDATOR SPECIAL 35TH ANNIVERSARY SCREENING + Q&A WITH DIRECTOR JOHN MCTIERNAN

  • Time: 9:30 AM – 11:40 AM
  • Venue: Picturehouse Central
  • Description: Arnold Schwarzenegger takes on an extra-terrestrial hunter in the first classic installment of the ongoing franchise. The screening is followed by a Q & A with the director John McTiernan.

 

31/7/2022 – Sunday – PANEL EVENT: JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION MASTERCLASS WITH SPECIAL GUESTS

  • Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Description: We take a look at the world of visual effects in JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION with a masterclass from some of the leading experts in the field of Visualization and VFX including Pawl Fulker (Partner + Creative Director, Proof London Ltd. / Senior Visualization Supervisor), Dave Vickery (ILM, Visual effects Supervisor) and with the involvement of Director Colin Trevorrow.

 

31/7/2022 – Sunday – SCREENING: CON AIR SPECIAL 25TH ANNIVERSARY SCREENING + Q&A WITH DIRECTOR SIMON WEST

  • Time: 6:45 PM – 9:30 PM
  • Venue: Picturehouse Central
  • Description: “Con Air” a Special 25th Anniversary Screening of the classic action thriller film directed by Simon West and starring Nicolas Cage, John Cusack and John Malkovich. A must see for all Nicolas Cage’s aficionados and devotees of action cinema as its best. The screening is followed by a Q & A with Simon West.
