Goya Awards 40th edition – Nominations
Today, Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, the nominations to the 40th edition of the Goya Awards, often called the Spanish “Oscars”, have been announced. Organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain, they have the purpose of rewarding the best professionals in each of the different specialties of the sector, both technical and creative.
‘Los domingos’, by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, leads the nominations for the 2026 Goya Awards with 13 nominations, as announced by actors Toni Acosta and Arturo Valls from the headquarters of the Spanish Film Academy, followed by Sirât, with 11 nominations. Maspalomas has 9 nominations and La cena has 8, while Sorda, El cautivo, and Los Tigres have 7 nominations each; Romería has 6 nominations and Ciudad sin sueño has 5.

Actor Luis Tosar and singer, songwriter, and actress Rigoberta Bandini will host the 2026 Goya Awards, which will be presented on February 28 at the Auditori Forum CCIB in Barcelona, where filmmaker Gonzalo Suárez will be honored with the 2026 Goya of Honor. Before that, the traditional nominees’ meeting will take place on February 2 in Madrid.
