After more than 7 and a half months of stage absenteeism, the City Light Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kevin Griffiths, will finally be back on the concert stage of KKL Luzern on Sunday, September 27, 2020, with a special film music concert entitled “Back on Stage – Celebrating Film Music”.
The concert will present 75 minutes of classic film music hits and exquisite compositions by five-time Oscar-winner John Williams, such as the playful, folksy ‘Victor’s Theme’ from Steven Spielberg’s movie ‘The Terminal’ led by the acclaimed soloist Paul Meyer (clarinet), or ‘Born on the Fourth of July’ from the film of the same title led by the acclaimed soloist Reinhold Friedrich (trumpet), or the virtuoso 14-minute concert piece ‘Escapades’ from the film ‘Catch Me If You Can’ led by the celebrated soloists Valentine Michaud (saxophone) and Fabian Ziegler (vibraphone).
The program will also include excerpts from ‘The Adventures of Tintin’, ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’, ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Out of Africa’, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Wonder Woman’. The concert will be recorded, and parts of this program will be released in winter on CD, in a special presentation.
