OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

REscoringWajda – a new concert added to the programme!

In this anniversary year marking the centenary of Andrzej Wajda’s birth, the world of film meets the world of music in the unique artistic project REscoringWajda. The concert, prepared by the Polish Radio Choir – Lusławice, will take place in the unique setting of the Wieliczka Salt Mine on Sunday 17 May at 1.00 pm.

REscoringWajda is an original attempt to reinterpret the music from the most important works of one of Poland’s most outstanding directors. The a cappella vocal arrangements draw out new meanings and emotions from compositions that have become an integral part of Polish culture.

The programme will feature musical themes from films such as: Pan Tadeusz (featuring the famous ‘Soplicow’), Innocent Sorcerers, Revenge, Man of Iron, Katyń, A Shadow Line, The Fly Hunter and Chronicle of Love Affairs. This is a unique opportunity to hear, in a new choral arrangement, the music of the outstanding composers who collaborated with Andrzej Wajda: Wojciech Kilar, Krzysztof Komeda, Krzysztof Penderecki, Andrzej Korzyński and Zygmunt Konieczny. Leading Polish composers and arrangers are responsible for the new arrangements: Marcin Wawruk, Wojciech Lemański, Jan Stokłosa, Maciej Kabza and Marek Raczyński.

REscoringWajda is a project that gives film music a fresh dimension and allows listeners to rediscover the melodies from the iconic films of the Polish Oscar winner.
