The Japan Times has informed that composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto is battling stage 4 cancer, a stage where the disease is spread to other parts of the body and where the patient’s prognosis is poor.
Ryuichi Sakamoto already made public being diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and rectal cancer in 2021, but there was no additional information on his current status till now.
The composer has released a statement where he said, “Since I have made it this far in life, I hope to be able to make music until my last moment, like Bach and Debussy whom I adore.”
