Alan Silvestri to receive BMI Icon Award

Yesterday Monday, April 10th, BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) announced that this year’s BMI Icon award will be granted to composer Alan Silvestri in recognition of his outstanding professional career.

 

Alan Silvestri has scored more than a hundred titles and earned two Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, two Emmy Awards and three GRAMMY awards. His work, while richly diverse in style, is unified by an unmistakable signature of rhythmic melody with themes that embody drama and excitement.

The award will be presented on Wednesday, May 10th, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles), in a private ceremony for the “2017 Film, TV & Visual Media Awards”, which will be hosted by Mike O’Neill (BMI President and CEO) and Doreen Ringer-Ross (BMI Vice President Film, TV & Visual Media Relations).

 

Alan Silvestri was first honored as an Icon by BMI in 1995 with The Kirk Award and now he now joins a prestigious list of BMI Icons that includes Alexandre Desplat, David Arnold, Rachel Portman, David Newman, Thomas Newman, Rolfe Kent, Mychael Danna, George S. Clinton, Harry Gregson-Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Michael Kamen, Mark Mothersbaugh, Danny Elfman, Alan Menken, Mike Post, Lalo Schifrin, Cliff Martinez, John Barry, James Newton Howard and John Williams.
