Carles Cases in concert in Valencia (Spain)
This weekend, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 of November, composer and pianist Carles Cases will offer two recitals in Valencia with Pau Lligadas -double bass- and Jordi Farrés -guitar-. Both recitals will be presented by the critic and writer Frederic Torres, who will trace a semblance of the professional career of Cases, both of his work during the eighties as Lluís Llach‘s orchestrator, and of his specialized work as a film composer for almost three decades.
Carles Cases dedicated an album in 2014 to Lluis Llach named Carles diu Llach, which will be the first part of the recitals, being his specialized work as a film composer the content of the second part of the program, with special incidence in his relationship with director Ventura Pons, with whom he has collaborated in almost twenty projects over two decades.
On Saturday, November 25th at 8:00 pm, will be the turn of the first recital at the Auditorium of L’Eliana (Eliana, Valencia, Spain), within the framework of the prestigious “V Segles de Música” festival, which has already been celebrated in thirteen occasions.
The various scenarios of the Valencian festival have accommodated over the years figures such as the cellist Jordi Savall, the metal quintet Spanish Luur Metal Brass, the pianist Chano Domínguez, the singer Raimon; an innumerable corollary of front-line musicians who have played from Baroque pieces by Purcell or pieces by Bach family, to more contemporary works such as those composed by Messiaen or Schöenberg. Film music has also taken place within the festival, and the presence of Carles Cases confirms the attention of the festival on the genre.

On Sunday, November 26th at 12:00 noon will be the time of the second recital, at the Main Hall of the MuVIM (Museum of Illustration) of Valencia, with the same program as the previous night, being the event the composer’s professional return to the city after an absence of almost two decades. His last appearance was in 2001, at the Palau de la Música, within the extinct Film Music Congress, which took place during the also extinct ‘Mostra del Mediterrani’.
The concert, with free entrance until full capacity is reached, is a long-awaited reunion for the composer and the Valencian fans, who can’t/shouldn’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the quality and musical talent of the Catalan composer.
