Concert ‘40th Anniversary of the Goya Awards’ in Barcelona

The concert will be performed by the Barcelona Symphonic Band (BMB) conducted by José R. Pascual-Vilaplana. With actress Victoria Luengo as master of ceremonies, the concert repertoire will be a journey through musical works that have earned the recognition of the Spanish Film Academy throughout its 39 Goya Awards galas, from Antón García Abril’s Fanfare to El 47 and The Good Boss.

This concert is organized in collaboration with Barcelona City Council, L’Auditori de Barcelona and the Symphonic Band, together with the Generalitat de Catalunya.

SoundTrackFest would like to thank the Spanish Film Academy, and in particular its Music Specialty, for commissioning the script of the concert.

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

Long before cinema became a mass phenomenon confined to darkened theatres, bands were already imprinting film melodies on the popular imagination. The Barcelona Symphonic Band recaptures the spirit of that era with a programme that journeys through key scenes and characters from our cinematic heritage. In doing so, it pays tribute to the historic role of ensembles that, in their early days, brought music from the screen into public squares, making it accessible to a wider audience.

True to this premise, the proposed repertoire moves between the epic sweep of Alatriste, the satire of La vaquilla and the realism of El 47. The legacy of Carmelo Bernaola sits alongside the contemporary imprint of Paula Olaz and Zeltia Montes, composers who have refreshed our sonic landscape. Presented in the context of the Goya Awards in Barcelona, this selection champions the versatility of the wind orchestra as a powerful medium for recreating the world of audiovisual storytelling.
