The Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ), the oldest event of its kind in the world, founded and directed by composer and conductor Diego Navarro, will offer the concert “Cinema e Paradiso” on July 3rd at the Teatro Leal in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, in collaboration with the Roma Film Music Festival, with the support of La Laguna City Council, the Organismo Autónomo de Actividades Musicales de La Laguna, and Mutua Tinerfeña. The recital, for which tickets will go on sale soon, will feature soloists from the Orquesta Italiana del Cinema, a group founded by Ennio Morricone, along with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Tenerife.

The audience will enjoy a beautiful journey through the great scores of the best Italian cinema, from the Oscar-winning “Il Postino (The Postman)” by Luis Enríquez Bacalov and “Life Is Beautiful” by Nicola Piovani; to the monumental “The Godfather,” “La Dolce Vita,” and “Amarcord” by Nino Rota; and Morricone’s “Once Upon a Time in America,” “The Mission,” and “Cinema Paradiso.” Legendary titles that have forged a genuine musical identity that will thrill all in attendance.

The concert will feature Héctor Ulises Pasarella, one of the world’s finest bandoneon players and original soloist on the soundtrack of ‘Il Postino (The Postman)’, as the star soloist.

In other news, Diego Navarro participates this Friday, April 11th, in the ‘Film Music Festival: An International Mission’ event, which takes place at the Forum Theatre in Rome as part of the current edition of the Roma Film Music Festival, accompanied by Dimple Melwani, CEO of Turismo de Tenerife, with the aim of sharing his experience as creator of FIMUCITÉ and reflecting on the role of these festivals in promoting film music globally, alongside key figures in the sector.

In the words of Diego Navarro, “It’s wonderful for our festival to see how FIMUCITÉ has been a source of inspiration for the creation of other international events of this genre. This is the case with the Roma Film Music Festival, which celebrates its fourth edition in 2025 and with whom our event shares ties of brotherhood. This year is particularly important because it’s the first time we’ve worked on a project together, our ‘Cinema e Paradiso’ concert. Given this year’s theme, we wanted it to have Italian DNA. Presenting FIMUCITÉ and our joint project this year in Rome is a source of pride and satisfaction for both festivals.”

For Dimple Melwani, “FIMUCITÉ is an established benchmark cultural and musical event, as well as a golden opportunity to position Tenerife in something we know is a success: the combination of culture and tourism.” The CEO of Turismo de Tenerife emphasizes that promoting FIMUCITÉ at the Roma Film Festival and soon at the Krakow Film Festival is part of the boost we want to give to an event fully aligned with our unique and differentiated tourism strategy, of which Tenerife is deeply proud. And we do so in two cities where FIMUCITÉ has been both the inspiration and the model to look to for the creation of these festivals.”

The trailer for the “Cinema e Paradiso” concert, an original FIMUCITÉ production, was directed by filmmaker Sergo Méndez and features fashion designer José Acosta and Patzy Espert in the main roles.

FIMUCITÉ will soon reveal more news and guests related to this highly anticipated production, which further develops the theme of the nineteenth edition of the festival: Italy, its cultural and historical legacy, its music, and its cinema.

The 19th edition of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife, FIMUCITÉ, will take place from the 7th until the 12th of June, with the support of the Cabildo de Tenerife and Turismo de Tenerife as its main sponsors, Gobierno de Canarias via Instituto Canario de Desarollo Cultural, the city councils of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna, and the Organismo Autónomo de Actividades Musicales de La Laguna. FIMUCITÉ also thanks the involvement of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and the Auditorio de Tenerife, and other public and private partners, including Mutua Tinerfeña, Distrito Centro-Ifara of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Fundación DISA, Emmasa, Domingo Alonso, and AUDI as the official festival car, Fundación SGAE, and Fundación CajaCanarias.
