John Williams and ‘The President’s Own’ – Concert – July 2023
“The President’s Own” United States Marine Band’s 225th anniversary celebration will culminate with an extraordinary concert at the Kennedy Center, conducted by the legendary Maestro John Williams along with Marine Band Director Colonel Jason Fettig.
Williams first led the Marine Band in concert at the Kennedy Center in 2003, commemorating the band’s 205th birthday. That historic occasion marked the beginning of several collaborations and a long friendship between Williams and “The President’s Own.”
In this concert, the Marine Band pulls out all the stops with performances of many of Williams’ most iconic works for films, including music from Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, E.T., Harry Potter, Lincoln, Schindler’s List, and more. Also featured on the program is an original work Williams composed for the Marine Band in honor of the organization’s 215th birthday affectionately entitled “For ‘The President’s Own.’”
