John Williams in Miami – March 2019
After the concert cancellations that happened a few months ago in London (read more) and Vienna (read more), we’re receiving very good news from John Williams: the first concert that the maestro will conduct in 2019 has been announced!
It is a special gala-fundraising concert to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the New World Symphony Orchestra, entitled “New World Symphony Gala: A Celebration of John Williams” that will be held on Saturday 2nd of March at the New World Center of Miami (Florida, USA).
The concert will feature John Williams in attendance, showcasing music from his best-known scores including Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter and more. The gala program will be conducted by John Williams, Michael Tilson Thomas and Sarah Hicks.
Being a special gala-fundraising concert, single tickets will start at $ 2,500 (2.213 €), having increasing values till the $ 300,000 (265.606 €) Diamond Benefactor level. The event will start at 18:30h with a cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, having a one hour concert from 19:30h till 20:30h, to be followed by dinner at 20:30h and a late night at 22:00h at the New World Center.
For those who cannot attend the concert due to the tickets prices, the concert will be screened for free in real time through the WALLCAST system at SoundScape Park, using a striking visual and audio technology, on the giant 7,000-square-foot projection wall of the New World Center. After the concert, the movie Jurassic Park will also be screened in this free and open event.
The presence of maestro John Williams in Miami, is encompassed in a series of events named “John Williams Comes to Miami” that started with the WALLCAST screening of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (9/2), Jaws (15/2), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (21/2) and will end with the Gala concert plus the screening of Jurassic Park (2/3).
