OSV concerts with Lydia Kavina in Barcelona

The Vallès Symphony Orchestra (OSV) under the direction of Diego Martín Etxebarría, will offer two concerts in the province of Barcelona on January 20 and 21 named “The Planets and Star Trek“, in addition to a special free activity in the auditorium of the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona on Wednesday, January 18 th.

 

 

In the two main concerts you will find the choir Cor of Noies de l’Orfeó Català directed by Buia Reixach i Feixas, as well as the famous virtuoso of the Theremin, Lydia Kavina, who is also the niece of the inventor of the instrument, and whose art we had the opportunity to enjoy in the last edition of Fimucité 2016 (follow link).

The planned program is as follows:

  • Jerry Goldsmith – Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
  • Howard Shore – Ed Wood – Suite (1994)
  • Gustav Holst – The Planets (1918)
  • Miklós Rózsa – Spellbound (1945)

As for the special activity, it will be held on Wednesday, January 18th at 7 pm in the auditorium of the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, free of charge, having first a panel about the connections between music and the planets, to later offer Lydia Kavina and musicians from the OSV a very special concert.
